Leeds’ Fizzy Blood reveal their colossal new single Pink Magic. Commanding and anthemic, the track showcases a new strength to Fizzy Blood’s sound.
“'Pink magic' is probably the easiest song we’ve ever written. It kind of just fell into our laps when together we were messing around with a korg, we got a bit of a trance-like groove going and just decided to see how far we could take that before it became boring We never found the answer, instead we got Pink Magic.
The lead guitar part, which at the time I didn’t know was gonna become Pink Magic, came about when I was messing around with a musical phone in the call centre I worked in at the time. Each key was assigned a different pitch and pressing them in the order of a phone number pulled from the Hull phone book gives you the melody you hear in the intro” Paul Howells said
Pink Magic is supported by the PRSF Momentum Fund. The track follows previous single CFO, which landed Fizzy Blood their first daytime BBC Radio 1 play courtesy of Clara Amfo. Both tracks will feature on forthcoming EP Pink Magic, which the band announce will come later this year on Killing Moon.
“The 'Pink Magic' EP is our third and final EP. It's taken us a few years to figure out who we are as a band, as musicians and as people, and this is the happiest we've ever been with our music. In the UK music scene it’s easy to get boxed in, we've managed to tour with the likes of While She Sleeps and then go straight on to hit the road with Spring King, very different crowds and very different music, however, all this has taught us is that we're not a metal band and we're not an indie band, we want to be the band that excites all listeners of music and more, so stop giving out titles and just enjoy it. After touring and being around each other non stop for the past 4 years, we’re now very comfortable in our own skin. Our third EP is what we believe to be the most accurate representation of who we are as a band and where we want to take our music moving forward. We're happy to present the EPs as a trilogy but I wouldn't kid anyone and say this was the plan from the start. These three offerings will have to tide you over till we're finished with what comes next…”
Rising Leeds band FIZZY BLOOD are pleased to reveal the new video for their single ADHD.
The track is written from the experiences of guitarist Paul Howells, who is diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Created by Richard Biggs and Jolyon White, the team behind Channel 4’s 2016 campaign We’re the Superhumans, the video gives viewers an insight to living with ADHD, visually depicting hyperactivity and inattention. The condition affects up to 5% of children and can often go undiagnosed, even in adults.
"I was diagnosed with having symptoms of ADHD along with type 2 bipolar disorder at the age of 21 and I guess my experience of it was playing on my mind when I sat down to write that day.
When we were discussing the song with Richard & Jolyon, the super talented and creative guys behind the video, they suggested trying to capture the experiences in the lyrics, but visually, and we all thought this was a brilliant idea... I t immediately spoke to my personal experiences of living with ADHD. The end result is weird, hyperactive, and fucked up – we love it ” - Paul Howells (guitars)

Fresh from their blistering performance at Download Festival, Leeds band FIZZY BLOOD have unleashed their soundtrack to festival season, new single SUMMER OF LUV.
"The key guitar riff that can be heard throughout 'Summer Of Luv' was actually written whilst we were chilling out in our Super 8 Motel off a freeway in Austin, TX back when we first played SXSW
festival in 2016. We took that riff home with us, turned it into a song and tried to capture in lyrics how we felt travelling into the unknown for the first time. In short, it's our own little love
letter to the State of Texas."
- Benji Inkley, Vocals
SUMMER OF LUV follows previous single Pawn, which saw spins from BBC Radio 1 and was recently featured as Kerrang! Radio’s track of the week.
FIZZY BLOOD also announce their performance at Reading & Leeds festivals in August, which adds to their hefty touring schedule this summer.
"Being a band based in Leeds all you hear, all summer long is ‘Ahh so you're going to Leeds Festival right?’. In years previous we'd have said with broken hearts a collective no. We're all buzzing
to now actually reply to those people with ‘yeah see you there!’. Without a doubt, it is our favourite festival in the UK, and it'll be an exciting first for many of us to check out Reading festival
too. We love mud so much!"
- Benji Inkley
As they gear up to perform at the hallowed grounds of Donington this weekend for Download, it’s clear that 2017 has been their biggest year to date with their second performance at SXSW, a UK metal titans While She Sleeps followed by The Great Escape and Liverpool Sound City.
