Written by OhHeyMy, Numb is produced by Chicago based DJ, singer-songwriter and producer, Goldhouse who is renowned for his remixes for the likes of Sam Smith, Fleetwood Mac, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga. It’s the first cut to be released from OhHeyMy’s recent studio sessions with Goldhouse and the likes of Jocke Ahlund (Teddybears, Charli XCX, Robyn).
Showcasing her dreamy, husky vocals over minimal electro-driven quivers, shimmers, pulses and throbs, OhHeyMy says of Numb: "It’s a track set in a club-environment where everyone else is focused on partying but you can only focus on this one person taking up all of your attention. A person who makes you feel high and dizzy - a sense of being numb. And all you want is to stay in that moment, with that feeling, forever."
The visual for Numb was directed by Neron Turner-Power and Tom Watts and produced by Caroline Cullen.
Raised in a small village in rural Sweden on a diet of Bob Dylan, Crosby, Stills and Nash and (of course) ABBA, the daughter of a teacher and the minister from the local chapel, OhHeyMy confesses to a fairytale childhood growing up in the forest surrounded by mountains, rivers and wild animals. Fast forward to 2018, and OhHeyMy mixes the indelible impression left by her idyllic early years with the harder urban sounds she discovered when she moved to the city where she began her chase for rock’n’roll kicks.
After rattling through a few all-girl cover bands, friends in Stockholm introduced OhHeyMy to her current guitarist (Simon Westerdahl) and drummer (Johannes Andersson). Together they spent a short stint working the Swedish live circuit playing rock songs in small bars and clubs before hunkering down in the studio to experiment with more electro-driven beats and melodies. Now, having collaborated with various producers from both sides of the Atlantic, OhHeyMy has found her sound and a new pop force is born.
