25/10/16  REAL FRIENDS release brilliant Halloween meets Freaks and Geeks video for single 'Mess' / UK headline tour in December fast approaching

Ahead of their december UK headline dates, and to celebrate these and Halloween, REAL FRIENDS have released new video for the single "Mess", a song taken from the band's recent, new album 'The Home Inside My Head' (released on May 27th through Fearless Records).

The video is a brilliant mix of imagery and homage to Donnie Darko, Freaks and Geeks and a typical US evening during Halloween.

Bassist Kyle Fasel explains; "We are stoked to show everyone our music video for 'Mess'. The coolest part was having our fans involved in the filming of the video. We had about one hundred extras in the video over the course of two days. All of those extras were our fans. If I was in one of my favourite bands' music videos I would be super stoked. So it's awesome to make our fans feel that."

Front man Dan Lambton as well: "We had wanted to work with Kyle Thrash for a very long time. We met him a few years ago while we were out with Modern Baseball and saw him grow as a director through all of their music videos along with Neck Deep and State Champs among many others. Kyle brought a new vision to our whole perspective on videography. We never had extras, an intricate set, or as detailed of a story line before. We had a lot of kids from the Philly area come out and give their time to be in the video and it was awesome getting to connect to fans in a different light. I'm also very glad I didn't fall off the bike while we were shooting."

Originally written in 2014, "Mokena" showcases Real Friends' continued growth, and though the song was a last minute addition to the new album, it quickly became one of the band's favorite tracks.

Bassist Kyle Fasel explains, "Lyrically, the song covers a lot of ground. It's a timeline, really. It sheds light on my earliest memories and into my teen years. It even talks about present day and also mentions making the wrong decisions, learning from them, and finally getting over the stuff that brings you down in life. Life can be hard. That never goes away, but it's a great feeling when you look and see that you finally got past whatever used to make you fall. 'Mokena' is a song about growth. Hope everyone enjoys it."

The band have a busy tour season ahead with dates in the UK on the Slam Dunk Festival, followed by a Main Stage slot on the Main Stage of the Vans Warped Tour 2016, where both MTV and Buzzfeed noted REAL FRIENDS as an artist to watch on the tour this summer. Full tour routing listed below.

REAL FRIENDS - Coloured by brushstrokes of punk, pop, and emo, Tiley Park IL's Real Friends has become one of the biggest breakout acts following the release of their debut, Maybe This Place Is the Same and We're Just Changing (2014). It bowed at #24 on the Billboard Top 200, moving over 10,300 copies first-week. To record The Home Inside My Head, the band treaded new territory by recording with two producers, three songs with producer Mike Green (Pierce The Veil, All Time Low) and nine with Steve Evetts (The Wonder Years, Dillinger Escape Plan). As they expanded their sonic palette, the lyrical vision also grew. Another first, Dan Lambton would split writing duties, penning lyrics to four songs.

The Home Inside My Head is REAL FRIENDS' coming-of-age story, about a common realisation that things won't be the same as they were during childhood, and that's okay. The Chicagoland quintet chose to put this journey on tape and let their lyrics spin into something positive, used as a therapeutic outlet for both Kyle and Dan. Noted as one of Alternative Press Magazine's Most Anticipated Albums of 2016, and a truly personal album for REAL FRIENDS, the band hopes The Home Inside My Head, will resonate with fans in their own unique way, giving them something to relate to and connect with individually.

23/04/16  REAL FRIENDS release brand new song and video for 'Scared To Be Alone

REAL FRIENDS can now announce the release of their new single 'Scared To Be Alone', as well as reveal a brand new video, which you can watch - HERE

A bit more on the song from bass player, Kyle Fasel - "Scared To Be Alone" was a song that stood out to us very early on. I remember when we wrote it, the song just hit me. It didn't sound like any of our other songs, yet it still sounded right for us. We tried a different approach in the beginning of the song with a darker sound. And then in the chorus we totally dug into our Jimmy Eat World influence.

The lyrical content of the song is about my mom. So it hits pretty close to home for me. My mom and I have a great relationship. But over the past few years she has put herself in some situations that she doesn't deserve. It's hard to watch someone you love make bad decisions. All you want to do is help but you can't seem to get through to them. I think that's something we will all deal with in life. It's real hard but I'm glad to make a positive out of the situation by writing about it.

We shot the music video in Louisville, KY. Max Moore, the director, really understands our branding and vibe. The brand of the band is very important to us. We want all of our album art, music videos, and all that be very cohesive. Max really nailed it with this one. The music video even ties in with the album art. We love that."
