FALSE ADVERTISING

In the grand scheme of young bands to care about, Manchester-based alternative trio False Advertising present a tantalising prospect. With three years together spent bubbling under the surface of the UK music scene garnering kudos for their chaotic live shows and self-made releases, their niche is now carved, and the stage set for something bigger. 2018 has seen Robert Smith of The Cure personally invite them to play his Meltdown festival; Steve Lamacq praising their ferocity upon catching their SXSW set; EverythingEverything endorsing them as “their favourite new band” live on BBC Radio One; and guitarist Jen Hingley being voted 8th Best New Guitarist in The World by Total Guitar. Venting heightened emotions of united frustration, whilst deftly mixing grunge with alternative rock, lyrically False Advertising are half pop-culture-junkie, half moronic-anti-anthem; the instrument-swapping trio’s songs laced with joyful catharsis and dissonance; their rotating line-up of front-person and drummer fostering both inclusivity and unpredictability.

HANDS OFF GRETEL

Hands Off Gretel are a sassy alt-rock / grunge pop band from South Yorkshire, with a reputation for live shows that are as visually compelling as they are musically. The band have completed four headline UK tours and played UK festivals such as Download, Isle of Wight, Rebellion and Camden Rocks, headlined the Loud Women Festival in London, and have also toured Germany and the Netherlands. With a new album due in 2019, the band have recently released two DIY videos

BROODERS

Combining chaotic heavy riffs with a swirling psychedelic edge, the psych-grunge three piece Brooders are an experience you won’t soon forget. Having found their feet the traditional way, Brooders have gigged and toured the UK relentlessly for the last year, testing the waters with an endless stream of musical exploration and rigorous song craft. Having released their latest single Breathe in November 2018 Brooders have received critical acclaim nationwide for their charmingly dark exterior and their brutal and intense song craft. With a knack for the wild, weird and wonderful, Brooders have left a trail of destruction in venues up and down the country, and have gained a reputation for ear splitting, mind blowing and out of this world live performances. Having played the likes of Sound City, Y Not, Dot to Dot and Tramlines Festivals, in the last year alone, Brooders have also been championed by the likes of BBC Introducing Yorkshire and Sheffield, Amazing Radio and Sine FM on their conquest to deliver their sonic whiplash far and wide.

FAUX PAS

Faux Pas will claw their way into your every waking thought and make you beg for more. Taking influence from the Riot Grrrl movement, alongside bands like Placebo, they have taken their twisted brand of Indie Punk to the Reading and Leeds Festivals, Kendal Calling and BBC Radio 1. Exploring the myth of fame, the Manchester / York quartet will bring back punk and empower the disenfranchised.

HOUSEHOLD DOGS

Household Dogs will usher you into their own raw reality. Marrying alternative rock and Americana, the Leeds five-piece create melodic backdrops onto which they paint decisively honest stories. From their performances at the 2018 Reading and Leeds Festivals to supporting Blinders at their sold-out Leeds show, Household Dogs have swiftly become recognised for their ungovernable live performances

BLOODHOUND

Bloodhound are a three-piece grunge-rock band from Hull taking influence from the likes of modern rock and classic grunge bands like Queens of The Stone Age, Royal Blood, Alice In Chains and Drenge. Their new single, FRSTRTD, is a collaboration between themselves and Leeds based psych-grunge trio Brooders, who feature on the track as well having produced, mixed and mastered the project. Their sound delivers monstrous riffs and mammoth choruses alongside psychedelic noise that twists their songs into fast-paced utopia.
