Smoldering New York City songstress, Sophia Bastian has unveiled the sultry video for her new song, “Rhythm To My Heart” today, following its premiere on Interview Magazine. The song, a collaboration with UK producer Phil Simmonds is out NOW. In the video, which is directed by rising director and fashion influencer, Sandra Winther, Bastian embodies a certain swagger, oozing sensuality as she dances against the simple yellow backdrop, radiating confidence as the music take over.
Last year, Sophia Bastian premiered her official first single, “Blind Ambition” (which she self-released!) on Ebro Darden’s Beats 1 radio show and saw it prominently featured on NPR, with the music video premiering on NYLON, who called the song “your official ‘Hi, hater” anthem for the summer.” Check out the “Blind Ambition” video HERE.
Since then, “Blind Ambition” has been playlisted on BBC Radio and on Spotify numerous times, racking up over 600,000 streams. iHeart Radio followed suit, supporting the single with a multi-platform roll out, as well as an exclusive in-house showcase to spotlight her talents as a live performer. Most recently, Bastian was selected by iHeart Radio to be featured in Direct TV and AT&T’s new artist feature, ‘About To Break.”
Sophia Bastian first broke out onto the scene back in 2012, with the independent release of her debut EP, Juvenile Blues, which was received international critical acclaim. Soon after, BBC tastemaker Gilles Peterson picked up on Bastian’s stunning revamp of Portishead’s “Gloryboxed,” Tweeting a link to her rendition before premiering it on his BBC Radio show, followed by the premiere of her first official music video for the song “Breaking” on mtvU.
An eight city UK tour and slot opening for The Roots already under her belt, there are plans under way to drop her sophomore EP this summer. Now, with the release of “Rhythm To My Heart” Sophia Bastianis hotly tipped to be an artist to watch in 2017.
