Debut album Interplanetary Class Classics released 24th March on Transgressive Records

Experience! Reliability! Expertise!

The band name on everyone's lips right now, The Moonlandingz, bring you the new video for their latest single 'The Strangle of Anna' which features the voice of Slow Clubs, Rebecca Lucy Taylor.

The Moonlandingz have teamed up with the people that brought you the iconic video for Kylie Minogue's 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head', the gritty heartbreaking British film, 'I, Daniel Blake' and 'American Honey' (amongst many more), the award winning video director & cinematographer, Dawn Shadforth & Robbie Ryan.

Talking about the video, the bands Adrian Flanagan described it as such.

"Johnny Rocket (aka frontman Lias Saoudi, also of the Fat White Family) went completely method for the video by staying awake for 5 days solid before the shoot. On arrival on set he said he wanted to have the hairstyle of all the South Yorkshire greats, yer know, Turner, Hawley and the king of the crooners, Mr Tony Christie – but he wanted to take that look to the next level, which obviously, was to wear 2 fried eggs upon his person...It was hilarious, we filmed the video in a karaoke bar - cum - Chinese restaurant in Dalston and we had the chef there make about 100 fried eggs till there was two eggs that were aesthetically pleasing enough. When they were good enough, we covered Johnny in Vaseline, slapped these Luke warm fried eggs on his chest and wrapped him and them in cling film...Even Michael Jackson never ventured into the realms of fry-ups as fashion accessories on a video shoot... I'm pretty certain it's gonna be the look of the summer!"

The Moonlandingz will be playing a 11 date headline, UK Tour, before heading into Europe & the US, starting in Newcastle on March 22nd and ending with their biggest headline show to date at Village Underground in London on April 4th. They will be joined on tour by their special guests, new Rough Trade signings, Goat Girl. The list of forthcoming dates is as follows:

THE MOONLANDINGZ Unveil new single The Strangle Of Anna (Feat. Rebecca Taylor)

Confirm UK/European tour dates for Spring 2017 !

Debut album Interplanetary Class Classics released 24th March on Transgressive Records

The Moonlandingz are back with new single ‘The Strangle of Anna’ the follow up to their recent A-List radio smash Black Hanz.

A warm and tender pop duet featuring everyone's hero of the hour 'Johnny Rocket' (AKA Fat White Family's, Lias Saoudi) & the UK's finest female song siren, Rebecca Taylor of Slow Club.  The single is all set to warm the nation’s hearts during this cold and politically deranged winter of discontent and will almost definitely set those in chains, free… it’s a record about liberation, finding a voice and standing up.

Discussing The Strangle Of Anna Adrian Flanagan of the Moonlandingz offered the following...

We wrote the song from the viewpoint of the girlfriend of some cliched, self absorbed, pound-shop indie Lou Reed wannabe, who plays in some velvets/ Mary chain-esque shoddy local band..You know the type , sociopathic skinny boys in leather jackets and winkle pickers, with cry baby, light weight, borderline drug problem - and with egos that far outweighs their talent for playing the chords, C, F and G through a fuzz guitar pedal, drenched in reverb. I think every woman has a tale about being with such Grade A Black Clouds!!”

Written & recorded by the band’s Dean Honer, Adrian Flanagan and Lias Saoudi at studios in Sheffield & New York, the song also features Mr Sean Lennon on drums & Bass - who co-produced the record with the Eccentronic Research Council.

The single is taken from the band’s forthcoming debut album, Interplanetary Class Classics (out March 24th on Transgressive records) and features guest appearances including Yoko Ono and Randy Jones, the cowboy from The Village People.

Recently the group put out a call to all UK based girl groups or female fronted bands, offering them support slots for their Tour in protest of what the group call unimaginative and sexist "Sausage Fests", male heavy band nights & festival bills.

“I'm just sick of turning up at venues and only seeing a bunch of twanging male brats bounding around a stage like Timmy bloody Mallet with a stratocaster, followed by another bunch of slightly moodier male brats...It's almost like promoters only see women as worshipping 'boys in bands' and no one wants to actually hear or see women on the stage, which from my point of view is disgusting and vile and is why I wanted to re-address that dynamic as soon I was in the position of giving anyone a little break, or a bit of work. So as well as GOAT GIRL (playing all dates), we will be letting other girl groups or female fronted artists, local to the city we play, open the show for us!! Since I made my original post about it, It has been funny. We've been getting a bunch of male indie bands complaining how it's "not fair" that we are only giving support slots to women in bands, but I guess it's a swift & bitter lesson in what it has been like, being a woman in music over the past 50 years. It's simple, If there ain't a woman in your band mate, not only are you losing out, but you ain't coming in!”! says Adrian Moonlandingz.
